Making these brownies is a breeze with my simple steps!
Prepare Your Baking Tray
Line a 9×9-inch baking tray with parchment paper. This makes it easier to lift the brownies out and keeps them from sticking.
Melt Butter and Chocolate
Combine the butter and chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 ½ minutes, then stir.

Continue in 1-minute bursts, stirring each time, until melted and smooth. Set it aside to cool slightly.
Whip Up the Egg and Sugar Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the eggs, extra yolks, and vanilla until they get fluffy and frothy.

Add half the brown sugar and keep beating, then add the rest and keep whipping until the mixture has tripled in volume.

Mix in the Melted Chocolate
Carefully pour the melted chocolate into the egg mixture, aiming along the bowl’s sides to keep as much air as possible in the batter.

Add the Dry Ingredients
Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt together, then gently fold them into the batter, mixing just until you have a smooth, glossy texture.
Stir in the Chocolate Chips
Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly spread throughout the batter.

Pour and Top Your Brownies
Pour the batter into your prepared baking tray. For extra chocolatey goodness, sprinkle some more chocolate chips on top.

Bake in the Air Fryer
Place the tray in the air fryer basket and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 15 minutes. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before removing them.
Slice, Sprinkle, and Serve
Once cooled, lift the brownies out, cut them into squares, and sprinkle with a few sea salt flakes for that perfect sweet-salty bite.
Enjoy your air fried brownies!

Recipe Notes and Expert Tips
I’ve got a few tips to make sure your brownies come out perfectly every time.
- Achieve Chewiness: Avoid overmixing once the flour is added. Overmixing can lead to tougher brownies instead of that perfect chewy texture.
- Microwave Melting: To prevent scorching, microwave the chocolate in short bursts, stirring each time.
- Room-Temperature Eggs: Using room-temp eggs makes for a fluffier batter and helps them whip up to a better volume.
- Size Matters: Make sure your baking tray fits in the air fryer basket with enough space for airflow.
- Add Extra Chocolate Chips: For a richer brownie, toss in an extra handful of chocolate chips—no such thing as too much chocolate!
- Cool Completely Before Slicing: Letting the brownies cool fully before cutting gives them a chance to firm up for cleaner, neater slices.
- Store with Care: Brownies stay chewier when kept in an airtight container.

How to Store Leftover Brownies
To keep your brownies as chewy and fresh as possible, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
If you prefer a longer storage option, you can refrigerate them for up to a week, though be sure to let them come to room temperature before serving to enjoy that rich, fudgy texture.
For even longer storage, wrap individual brownie squares tightly in plastic wrap, then place them in a resealable freezer bag. They’ll stay fresh in the freezer for up to 3 months.
When you’re ready to enjoy, let them thaw at room temperature, or give them a quick 10-second zap in the microwave for a warm, gooey treat!
Our Top 3 Money-Saving Tips for This Recipe
Here are some cost-saving ideas to make these brownies even sweeter.
- Bulk Chocolate: Stock up on dark chocolate in bulk to save money on ingredients you’ll use again and again.
- Reusable Parchment or Baking Mats: Cut costs and waste with reusable parchment or silicone baking mats.
- Adjust Chocolate Chips: Reduce the chocolate chips by about ¼ cup without affecting flavor if you’re low—still plenty of chocolatey goodness!
