For the sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350°F).
  • Cut the puff pastry into rectangles and then into thin triangles (they should be a bit smaller than the sausages on their thick side).
    1 puff pastry sheet
  • Roll the sausages, starting from the thick base of the triangle and ending with the tip. Press them firmly. Arrange them in a parchment paper lined tray and brush them with melted butter.

  • Serve with the sauce and enjoy!

Notes

  • Sausages: Any small, cooked sausages work great. You can use classic hot dogs, mini cocktail sausages, or even spicy pork varieties if you like a bit of heat. If the sausages are a little long, just cut them down to size or in half.
  • Add Flavors: Sprinkle some sesame seeds, poppy seeds, bagel seasoning, or even a bit of cheddar cheese in with the sausage for a tasty twist.
  • Sauces: Experiment with different dipping sauces like BBQ sauce, Chick-fil-A sauce, or garlic butter to mix things up.
  • Vegetarian Option: You can substitute the sausages with vegetarian or vegan sausage alternatives. Many brands offer great-tasting veggie sausages that work well in this recipe.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare them up to the point of baking and then store them covered in the refrigerator. Just pop them in the oven when you're ready to serve.

Storage and Reheating Instructions

  • Cool and Airtight: Allow them to cool completely before you pack them away, and store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
  • Fridge: They’ll last in the fridge for up to three days.
  • Reheating: When you're ready to eat them, reheat the pigs in a blanket in the oven, air fryer, or a toaster oven at 180ºC (350°F) until they're warm and crispy again.
  • Freezing: You can also freeze them for longer storage. Wrap them individually in plastic wrap and put them in a freezer bag. They can be reheated straight from the freezer.
