Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until combined.
1 cup unsalted butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 2 large eggs, 1 cup light brown sugar
  • Fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
    2 cups chocolate chips
  • Scoop or roll the dough into balls, about 2 tablespoons each, and space them 1½ inches apart on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges start to turn golden. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Butter Temperature: Softened butter is key here. It helps create a smooth, fluffy dough when creamed with sugar.
  • Use Unsalted Butter: Using unsalted butter lets you control the amount of salt, balancing flavors and making sure the sweetness and chocolate shine through without any salty surprises.
  • Avoid Overmixing: Just mix until the ingredients come together to keep the cookies soft and tender.
  • Cookie Scoop for Size: Use a scoop to get evenly sized cookies that bake at the same time.
  • Underbake for Chewy Centers: Check your cookies at 8 minutes; they should look soft in the center for that perfect chewiness.
  • Cool on the Baking Sheet: Letting them sit on the sheet for a couple of minutes helps them set without overbaking.
  • Store for Freshness: Keep your cookies soft by storing them in an airtight container at room temperature. For long-term storage, freeze them, and they’ll stay just as delicious!
