9 ounces sliced button mushrooms, 1 tablespoon avocado oil, 1 garlic clove, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, ¼ teaspoon dried parsley
  • Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Once preheated, place the seasoned mushrooms in the air fryer basket, spreading them out into a single layer.
  • Cook in the air fryer for 7-9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even cooking.
  • After cooking, remove the mushrooms from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving dish.
  • Serve the garlic mushrooms immediately as a side dish or use them as a topping for salads, pasta, or rice dishes.

Notes

  • Even Spacing: Make sure to spread the mushrooms out in the air fryer basket to avoid overlapping. This ensures they all get evenly crispy.
  • Size: Cut your mushrooms into similar-sized pieces for uniform cooking.
  • Add Flavor: Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices. Thyme, rosemary, or a splash of soy sauce can add an extra dimension to your dish.
  • Preheating: Don’t skip preheating your air fryer; it makes a big difference in achieving that perfect crispiness.
  • Check for Doneness: Depending on your air fryer model, cooking times may vary slightly. Keep an eye on them the first time you try this recipe to find the perfect duration.
  • Mushrooms: While white button mushrooms are used here, feel free to try cremini mushrooms, portobello mushrooms, or even a mix of your favorite mushrooms.
  • Oil: You can use any high smoke point oil like canola, vegetable, or coconut oil. You can add a drizzle of olive oil at the end for a bit of extra flavor.
  • Garlic: You can substitute 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder if needed, but fresh is always best for flavor.
  • How to Clean Mushrooms: It's best to gently wipe the dirt off with a damp paper towel. Avoid soaking mushrooms as they absorb water and could become soggy.
  • Add More Flavor: Feel free to experiment with different spices like smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, or curry powder for a different twist. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end will also make the flavors shine.

Storage and Reheating Instructions

  • Cool and Airtight: Let the mushrooms cool to room temperature and store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh. They’ll last in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
  • Reheat: When you’re ready to eat them again, pop the mushrooms back in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring back their crispiness.
  • Avoid the microwave: Microwaving them can make the mushrooms rubbery, so it's best to reheat in the air fryer or on a pan to maintain the texture.
