Air Fryer Apple Crisp
I love how Air Fryer Apple Crisp creates that perfect golden-brown oat topping that crunches when you break through it. Warm cinnamon apples underneath stay tender and sweet, releasing juice that soaks into the buttery crumble. Every spoonful smells like fall with brown sugar and spice, and it’s done fast without heating up your whole oven.

I make it for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Sunday family dinners when I need a quick fall dessert everyone actually eats. It’s budget-friendly and lighter than traditional baked treats. Perfect for last-minute potlucks because it tastes homemade and both kids and adults love it. The crisp stays fresh at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerated for up to 5 days.

With a few simple ingredients and the steps below, you can have this warm apple dessert ready in under an hour.
Prepare the Apples
In a large bowl, cube the apples (Pink Lady, Fuji, or Granny Smith apples work great here, but any sweet apples will do) and toss them with the white sugar, half a teaspoon of cinnamon, and optional lemon juice for a touch of tartness that keeps the sweetness in check, tossing until they’re evenly coated.
Then transfer them to a greased 13×9-inch baking dish or a small oven-safe dish. I recommend using this air fryer or a similar model that can fit a larger baking dish, so you get plenty of servings.
Make the Crumble Topping
In a separate medium bowl, combine the topping ingredients, the flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, nutmeg, and the remaining half teaspoon of cinnamon.
Cut in the cold cubed butter (unsalted butter works great here if you prefer control over the flavor) with a fork until the topping mixture becomes coarse crumbs to create a crunchy topping; the butter needs to stay cold so it bakes into a perfectly crispy, crumbly texture.

Assemble and Bake
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple filling in the baking dish, making sure they’re fully covered so every bite gets that buttery topping.
Bake in the air fryer at 160°C (320°F) for 30 to 40 minutes, checking around the 30-minute mark to make sure the apples are tender when pierced with a fork and the topping is golden brown.

Serve Warm
Let it cool for just a few minutes before serving. I always add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top while it’s still warm, so the ice cream melts into the cinnamon apples and buttery crumble. I use this ice cream scoop because it glides through even firm ice cream effortlessly, giving me perfect scoops that melt beautifully over the warm apple crisp.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 5 apples cubed
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon divided
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup cold butter cubed
Instructions
- Place the apples in a large bowl. Mix in the sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13×9-inch baking dish.5 apples, ½ cup sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, nutmeg, and the remaining ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle this mixture over the apples.1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup brown sugar, ½ cup quick-cooking oats, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ½ cup cold butter
- Bake in the air fryer at 160ºC (320°F) for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden.
- Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Use firm apples: Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji apples hold their shape best and won’t turn mushy during baking.
- Don’t skip the greasing: Grease the baking dish well so the apples don’t stick and cleanup is easier.
- Check your baking dish size: Make sure your 13×9-inch dish fits comfortably in your air fryer basket with some space around the edges for air circulation.
- Keep the butter cold: Cold butter creates the crumbly texture in the topping. If it’s too soft, the topping will be dense instead of crispy.
- Reheat in the air fryer: For the crispiest topping, reheat leftovers in the air fryer instead of the microwave. It brings back that fresh-baked texture.
- Flash freeze for easy storage: If freezing, let the apple crisp cool completely, then freeze uncovered for 1 hour before wrapping tightly. This prevents the topping from getting soggy or sticking to the wrap.

How to Store Leftovers
Let the apple crisp cool completely before storing it. Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or transfer individual portions to an airtight container to keep the topping as crisp as possible. It’ll stay fresh at room temp for about 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.
For longer storage, wrap the entire dish in plastic wrap and then aluminum foil, or portion it into freezer-safe containers. It’ll keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To reheat, pop individual servings in the air fryer at 160°C (320°F) for 5 to 7 minutes until warmed through and the crispy topping crisps back up. You can also microwave it for 30 to 45 seconds, but the topping won’t be as crispy. For the best texture, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating from frozen.
What to Serve With Air Fryer Apple Crisp
I always serve it warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream because watching the ice cream melt into the warm cinnamon apples is half the fun. Whipped cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce also works great if you want something different, and both add that extra touch of sweetness.
For Thanksgiving or fall gatherings, pair it with hot apple cider, coffee, or spiced chai tea. It also sits beautifully on a dessert table alongside pumpkin pie or pecan pie when you want variety without making everything from scratch. The warm, spiced flavors complement each other perfectly and give guests options.
